Description

We currently have a volunteering opportunity based in Okehampton to support our Rural Affairs team with engagement and crime prevention activities to tackle rural issues. This role will primarily support the heritage crime initiatives being run by the team, including analysis of historical crime data. There will also be an opportunity with this role to attend events with local organisations and within the community to help promote preventative measures to reduce the impact of rural crime within our community.

Tasks may include:

  • Assisting with updating policing website pages and social media accounts.
  • Creation and distribution of local newsletters.
  • Assisting with research and supporting local crime prevention activities.
  • Supporting police personnel with administration and office-based tasks.
  • All volunteers are encouraged to support with local community engagement and events, as well as larger events such as the Royal Cornwall Show.

This role would suit someone who:

  • Has excellent communication skills
  • Strong IT skills
  • Has knowledge of social media and skills in creating posts on platforms such as Facebook and Twitter
  • Works well in a team but can also support independently

Police Support Volunteers undertake roles to support and enhance the day-to-day work undertaken by police officers and staff. By offering their time and energy they help address policing issues, enhance service delivery, and strengthen links between policing and the community.

Mileage expenses for personal vehicles will be paid at 45p per mile and applicants should live within a 25-mile radius of the stated location.
