Our Driving Support Volunteers will support and coach members of the policing family, developing confidence and competence in essential driving skills
This role involves:
- Accompanying drivers in standard unmarked police vehicles during practice drives to improve confidence
- Providing coaching and support with basic driving skills, including reversing manoeuvres and parking techniques
- Demonstrating and explaining routine vehicle safety checks
- Supporting drivers in developing knowledge and confidence when operating electric vehicles, including charging procedures and efficient use
- Providing constructive feedback and encouragement to help drivers build confidence and develop skills
Skills
- Strong communication and coaching skills
- Patient, supportive, and approachable manner
- Good understanding of basic driving skills
- Knowledge of electric vehicles
- Ability to build confidence and provide constructive feedback
- You should hold a full UK manual driving licence for a minimum of 3 years and hold a recognised driving coaching qualification.
The base station will be either HQ, Exeter or Devonport. Applicants should live within a 25 mile radius of their allocated station.We will provide you with a volunteer uniform and travelling expenses will be reimbursed. Mileage is paid at 55p per mile.
This role requires a driving licence check prior to being interviewed for the position. A declaration and licence check form will be emailed to you if you are successful through the shortlisting stage, and prior to an interview being offered. If this check shows an invalid licence, you will be withdrawn from the recruitment process.
